Branches obliquely spreading, branchlets usually pendulous, young branches reddish brown or orange red, glabrous or sparsely hairy. Winter bud is conical, apex is sharp, bud scale is reddish brown, upper bud scale is retrovolute, base bud scale apex is long pointed, has longitudinal ridge, pubescence. The upper leaves of the twigs extend forward or upward, the lower leaves extend to both sides or bend up with the leaves on both sides, or the leaves of the drooping twigs radiate forward and extend, in a four edged strip, straight or curved, 1.2-2.5cm long, the transverse section is obliquely square, and the four sides have stomatal lines.

The cones are cylindrical, 10-15 cm long and 18.5 cm thin, brown at maturity; the seed scales are thin, rhombic obovate or rhombic ovate, with truncated or concave apex and fine missing teeth at the edge; the seeds are about 4 mm long and the seed wings are about 16 mm long.
