Chongqing yellow cedar, also known as Phellodendron, Astragalus, and Alaska cedar (Chamaecyparisnootkatensis), grows in the coastal areas of the western slopes of the BC Coast Mountains in Alaska, Canada, and nearby islands, rarely growing alone, usually scattered or in groups. Mixed with Pacific fir and western hemlock.  Cork trees are medium in size and are rare but very beautiful trees. They are tough and strong, extremely durable, and are known for their slow growth and long life.
